More Fantastic Burglary Prevention Tips

Most burglars can enter even a locked home through force. No matter how good the lock on your door is, robbers can always smash a window to gain access. Shockingly, 1 in 3 burglars gets into a home through an unlocked window or door. In this blog entry, the experts at Golden Locksmith will detail some of the ways you can keep burglars out of your home.

Is Your Lock Up To Task?

You may be questioning whether your locks are strong enough to protect your home from burglary. Not all locks are created equal. For homeowners locks do not only protect they also offer peace of mind. Burglars are becoming increasingly smart and have experience opening simple locks. Even if you have a quality lock, it will not protect you from everything.

You are not entirely powerless, there are some moves you can make to prevent a robbery:

  1. Don’t Keep Spare Keys Close: When burglars survey your property they notice out of place rocks or pots where a spare key could be. Hide your key far from the door. It is recommended to keep your key hidden at least 20 feet from the door.

  2. Difficult Find: Many burglars simply toss over a stone to have a key. This is quick work and ensures it is difficult to catch them. Instead, bury your key, place it high up, or make it difficult to detach. The more time it takes a burglar to get in your space the more likely they are to be caught.

  3. Move It: If your key is always in the same spot, a robber is more likely to find it. Perhaps they have seen you retrieve the key or it is someone they know. Make it more difficult by periodically changing the location of the key.

Following these simple steps can prevent a nightmare scenario. Spend a little time to ensure your home is safe.
